Lets be honest, the majority of us choose the career of Animal Health Technology so we can be around animals, which we all have a true passion for. That’s part of what makes us so good at what we do. Unfortunately, it’s not all kittens and puppy dogs. There is a lot of work to be done!
Duties and responsibilities of an Animal Health Technologist in private practice include but are not limited to:
- Animal restraint
- Emergency first-aid
- Anesthesia (Induction and Monitoring)
- Assisting veterinarians in medical procedures such as surgery
- Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
- Performing laboratory testing
- Inventory
- Performing dental prophylaxis
- Radiology
- Medical Nursing
- Client education
- Nutritional counseling
