However, with a career in the Pet Health Insurance Industry you have the opportunity to promote responsible pet ownership, care, and wellbeing outside a typical clinic setting. This career path will give you the chance to broaden your horizons and still apply all of the skills and knowledge attained as an Animal Health Technologist. Insurance isn't just for cars, houses, or fine jewelery... it's for pets too!!

Duties of an Animal Health Technologist in the Pet Insurance Industry include but are not limited to:

Claims Adjuster/Underwriter:

  • Negotiating settlements (Assessing/Processing claims).
  • Review patient medical history and evaluate exclusion placement.
  • Evaluate and determine outcome of pre-authorized coverage inquiries.
  • Creation and distribution of the appropriate insurance documentation.

Sales:

  • Develop and maintain a professional relationship with veterinary clinics, breeders, and shelter facilities.
  • Involvement in developing and carrying out marketing plans and programs.
  • Handle inquiries from veterinary clinics, breeders, and shelter facilities.
  • Assist in increasing awareness of Pet Health Insurance by training, educating and servicing the veterinary community through seminars, trade/industry shows, and marketing projects.
