Information for Writing the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE)

Starting in spring 2010, the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE) will no longer be a paper and pencil exam. It will now become a computer based exam. The exam will be written directly on a computer and preliminary results will be given immediately, with final results delivered in about three weeks to the exam taker.
When Can the exam be written?
There will be three opportunities during the year in which you may write the exam. The dates for writing in 2010/2011 are as follows:
July 15 -Aug 15, 2010 (deadline June 15,2010 for all required documents)
November 15-Dec 15, 2010 (deadline October 15,2010 for all required documents)
March 1-March 31,2011 (deadline February 1,2011 for all required documents)
How to Register and Get More Information:
Administration of the exam and collection of payment for the exam will now be the responsibility of the American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB). This means that from now on you will submit your payment to write the exam directly to the AAVSB. They will check with regulatory bodies such as MAHTA to ensure that anyone who applies to write the exam is eligible. For Student and Temporary members the steps to write the exam will go as follows:
1. Become a Manitoba Animal Health Technologist Association Student Member. Download a Membership Registration form from "Online Forms" or click: http://www.mahta.ca/documents/Microsmember%20registration%20form%202009-10.pdf
Also, if you are student, you will need:
Enrollment certificate from your school (Temporary members should submit a copy of their diploma). This enrollment certificate proves to MAHTA that you are a second year AHT and are eligible to write the VTNE.
